Recently, I saw a TikTok posted to Twitter. It was captioned something to the effect of "he's so excited to spend Saturday couch-rotting with me!" and it was about the video-user's boyfriend couch rotting with her. Now, for the uninitiated, 'couch-rotting' is where you spend all day on the couch eating snacks and watching stuff. Curtains drawn, comfy clothes, etc etc etc. They had chips and those frozen juice tubes and all sorts of delicacies. Now, I don't think there's anything wrong with it, even if it does strike me as indulgent. However, I did feel a bit conflicted.
I've done my share of this 'couch-rotting' in my time, you know, and to me it's only satisfying after the conclusion of some long battle. This could be Friday evening after a work-week, but even then that seems a little too "normal". I suppose this is a student's mindset, but for me such occasions usually arose after completing some homework I thought would be impossible, or cinching an A on a Spanish exam. Not for a mere 'Saturday'. Though, as an unemployed layabout, every day is Saturday for me at this point!
I really need to get a job...hopefully I'll get one soon. I need to write and read and all that nonsense. I think right now I might investigate some more pages on Neocities. Check da culture. I hope you're well, at least.
